235-Acre Saint Francis South Hospital Development
August 7, 2008 –
Oklahoma Field Office of the US Fish and Wildlife Service issued a concurrence
with KBA’s July 2008 American Burying Beetle survey report for the 235-Acre
Saint Francis South Hospital Development project in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
KBA performed a Presence-Absence Survey for the American Burying Beetle, a
federally endangered species, on the 235-acre tract of undeveloped land. KBA
performed the survey under a USFWS permit by USFWS protocol. The survey
involved baiting, trapping, marking, and releasing carrion-eating beetles.
Several burying beetle species were captured, but the endangered American
burying beetle was determined to not be present in the ROW. KBA concluded that
it was unlikely that the American Burying Beetle is present in the immediate
vicinity of the construction area.
